Water Conditioners

What is Physical Water Conditioning?

“Physical Water Conditioner” is a general term use to describe a group of products which can reduce, prevent or remove the formation of hard (lime) scale in areas supplied with hard water. They are generally small devices which are simple to install and are plumbed into the water pipe close to the point of entry into the property. The water conditioners LED UV-C Systems supply are backed by decades of product development and efficacy studies by Brunel University.
Installation of a physical water conditioner offers the home owner scale reduction and over a period of time removal of scale on existing pipework hence the alternative name of the products as ‘scale reducers’.
LED UV-C Systems Ltd have many years of experience specifying and installing water conditioners in domestic and commercial properties, we will be pleased to assist with selection of the correct system should you wish to discuss your requirements.

Why Choose Limetron Water Conditioners

Features

There are many different types of limescale prevention systems available today: chemical treatment, water softeners and water conditioners. The Limetron® is based on successful industrial catalytic water conditioning methods as it offers reliability, high performance, is cost effective for the consumer and has the smallest environmental impact. Fluid Dynamics catalytic system is used by homeowners, corporations and utility companies around the world with over 300,000 systems installed in over 50 countries.

How it Works

Limescale forms in hard water areas most notably when water is heated. Scale is a result of super-saturation. As water heats up the capacity to hold calcium in solution reduces and the water can become super saturated with calcium ions. This results is the calcium falling out of solution as calcium carbonate and adhering to the nearest surface usually where the heat is generated. If you take a water heater for example this scale will form on the heating element or heat exchanger leading to a reduction in heat transfer efficiency, energy wastage and eventually leading to equipment failure.
Limetron® utilises the catalytic method of water treatment, it has no wires, requires no power source or salt and does not add or remove anything from the water.
Inside Limetron® is the unique patented Fluid Dynamics catalytic alloy. It is made from a combination of semi-precious metals that react with water.
When water flows through Limetron® the natural conductivity of the water causes the metals to react with one another generating an electrical field on the surface of the alloy.
This electrical field causes the calcium and bicarbonate ions to precipitate from the water forming an insoluble microscopic calcium carbonate crystal called aragonite.
The smooth surface of this aragonite crystal cannot adhere to surfaces in the same way as limescale and is washed through the system and exits down the drain. If aragonite deposits for example through evaporation on surfaces such as shower screens the deposits are much easier to remove and do not require chemicals or aggressive cleaning actions.
In most cases water treated by Limetron® will absorb existing limescale deposits. This is caused by the increase in solubility as a result of the precipitation of calcium ions during treatment. The descaling impact varies depending on water quality and the volume of existing limescale deposits within the pipework

MagCat

Neodymium Solid State Magnet and Catalytic Treatment rolled into one Comprehensive Treatment Device

Water Conditioners: Image

Calcium bicarbonate is inversely soluble and reverts to its solid carbonate state when energy is inserted into the water, i.e. boiling the kettle or simply exiting a tap or shower head.

Limescale forms in water systems and  narrows pipes, blocks shower heads, slows flow, reduces thermal efficiency and provides a breeding ground for bacteria.

How It Works

Water Conditioning should not be confused with water softening.

Water softeners replaces hardness ions such as Calcium (Ca) and Magnesium (Mg) which would drop out of solution and adhere to your pipe walls, shower screens, taps and internals of home appliances with sodium via an ion exchange process. This process requires a resin bed which is re-activated with brine (Salt water) Water Softeners require a drain and a consumable refill of salt. Some are powered, others are not.

Water Conditioners work on the basis of Nucleation, i.e. the process of conditioning is to make the ions stick to each other, thus not then sticking to walls and surfaces. Different to water softening, conditioning the water does not remove ions, these stay in solution and will pass through the water outlets. You will likely find that surfaces have a light powdery residue that can easily be wiped away compared to solid limescale build up.

How the MagCat Works. The MagCat has two elements of treatment: 1. Very high powered Solid State Magnet. A proven technology in water conditioning, an electromagnetic field excites the ions to adhere to each other. 2. Catalytic treatment, a proprietary element metal corkscrew core slightly adjusts pH and releases CO2 which again chemically attracts ions to bond.
